报告题目:Critical Period Plasticity and Binocular Matching in the Mouse Visual Cortex
报告摘要:Experience shapes neural circuits during critical periods in early life. My lab has demonstrated that critical period plasticity drives binocular matching of orientation preference in the mouse visual cortex (Wang, Sarnaik, and Cang, 2010). Although studies have started to reveal the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that control the opening and closure of the critical periods, the functional significance of a properly-timed critical period in visual system development is not yet clear. In this seminar, I will present our recently-published data that address this question.
报告人简介:Dr. Jianhua Cang is now an associate professor in Department of Neurobiology at Northwestern University. He received his bachelor from Peking University in 1996 and Ph.D. in Biology from University of Virginia in 2001, and had postdoctoral training in Professors Jeffry Isaacson’s and Michael Stryker’s labs, respectively, during 2001-2006. His lab research direction is to elucidate how precise patterns of neuronal connections are established during development to ensure the normal functioning of the visual system. His group has published a series of important work in the Neuron, Nat Commun., IOVS and J. Neurosci.
